japan by brancoprata

In the beginning of the year we were in Macao and then Tokyo, working on the Sheraton Asia campaign with Greg Finck. It was an incredible journey and project and we couldn´t be more proud of the end result.

While in Tokyo, we had the chance to see Mount Fuji up close and also visit Fujiyoshida Sengen Shrine, and today we are sharing a few images of the day we saw a little bit more of the Land of the Rising Sun. Enjoy!!

editorial ambivalence by brancoprata

For this photography essay, our starting point was the word “ambivalence” and the meaning behind it. So what’s the definition of this word and why do we feel so drawn to it? In a very basic way, ambivalence is the coexistence within an individual of positive and negative feelings towards the same action. Like everything in life, it’s normal to have mixed reactions about everything – even marriage!

We wanted a raw, honest exercise on a relationship between two people: true feelings that overcome the flaws; heartfelt words spoken that make you forget everything else; and, the acknowledgement that perfection is tangible only when you realize that your strength is built on the good and the bad. We wanted our images to focus on the couple and the space – the actions and movements between the two and their reactions to the scene.

We chose a simple and discreet environment with unpretentious details so the couple stood out. With this type of focus in life, it allows us to realize that indecision or uncertainty are also part of the path to reach a joyful outcome!

indoors maternity session by brancoprata

Architecture allowed light to enter this space, carving shadows and creating an atmospheric design, perfect for this very modern and fashion oriented maternity shoot. We really love these images, since we believe they are a true reflection of this very stylish soon to be mother.

destination wedding in a old monastery

Sharing this beautiful wedding on our journal today, make sure you read what our couple had to say and please check the full feature on Magnolia Rouge.

"We ended up meeting an old friend who was living in the U.K. at the time, but visiting Lisbon, for dinner on New Year’s Eve, and then we went and watched the fireworks over the river. While the trip was just for a few days, we absolutely fell in love with the city and country. We especially loved the people – the whole country seemed so low-key and relaxed, and we found the city pleasant and welcoming.

When we began looking for locations for the wedding, we knew that we wanted to do a destination wedding. Portugal immediately came to mind and we initially thought that Lisbon would be perfect – we felt confident with fond memories of the wonderful time we had over New Years that we could find an amazing venue and really show our friends and family a beautiful time.

When we started looking for venues in Portugal, it was important that the features represented both our interests: architecture and history. We wanted a venue that was unique, with old architecture, big, oversized, and represented the culture of Portugal, but with current and new amenities for our guests. We originally considered the Lisbon area, however so happy we expanded and considering other venues around the entire country. At the POUSADA MOSTEIRO DE AMARES, we found everything we wanted. The original design and architecture of the building were beautiful which resulted in a breathtaking setting for our wedding day, but also for the days leading up to our big day. An old monastery beautifully converted into a hotel, all the rooms and amenities were modern however, and would make our guests comfortable."
