Douro, an experience of the fives senses. And it is the best place to relax, unwind and have a few laughs with each other while sharing the most amazing food.
Evoke Design & Creative, challenged us to design a table that reflected the essence of Portugal. If you ever visited our country before, you understand how Portuguese people love to enjoy a great meal. It’s never about the food or the decor, but the whole experience behind it. Spending hours around the table enjoying the food, the wine and engaging in an interesting conversation about the mundane or sometimes, discussing serious topics. It’s part of our DNA as a country.
So when we were brainstorming about what we could design, we realized that more than creating a beautiful centerpiece or exquisite styling, we had to focus on the experience. That being said we contacted Chef Pedro Lemos, who was consecrated with a Michelin star in 2014. And in other words, we were invited for lunch at Casa dos Ecos.
I was lucky enough to be able to design a very simple table. Using fresh hand cut greenery from the vineyards, linens that are a family heirloom and Portuguese ceramics, we created a true Portuguese table, filled with the most tasteful food, the coolest of wines and great company.
