New York family portraits, on a cold Winter morning.
Family portraits are always a good excuse to travel to one of our favorite cities in the world, New York.
This time we went to a neighborhood in the New York City borough of Brooklyn. That is to say, we went to DUMBO, short for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass.
We feel it’s such an interesting place, especially because of how its past as a mecca of American manufacturing in the late 1800s-early 1900s, has not been erased by the influx of wealth into the area.
That being said, we feel Dumbo embraces its past by re-purposing 100-year-old warehouses. For example, they turned them into luxury condos, hip restaurants, cutting-edge performance art spaces and tech start-ups like Etsy and our favorite West Helm.
As we walked down Washington Street, and look straight ahead we found the blue-gray steel of the Manhattan Bridge, built in 1912.
Far off in the distance we could see the Empire State Building perfectly framed in the archway of the bridge.
We then went to the Main Street Park that has the incredible view to New York city! The sight is perfectly framed by Brooklyn Bridge and Manhattan Bridge, and we took advantage of these two iconic landmarks.
After exploring a little bit of DUMBO area, we then ahead to the Brooklyn Bridge for a few final portraits. The day was quite cold and misty, but that couldn’t take away the charm and beauty of this stunning location.
