Surprise birthday party in Scotland, an unforgettable event.

Today we are super excited to finally share a “few” images from the first day of this surprise birthday party in Scotland.

Back in 2019, we went to Scotland for 3 days, to photograph a two day event magnificently orchestrated by Krisja Lorensen, for her husband’s 40’s birthday.

Krisja and Keith were traveling through Europe and planned a few days at Wardhill Castle.

{Side note: You might recognize this property if you are a Game of Thrones fan. This is the venue where Rose Leslie and Kit Harington got married.}

Krisja invited their closest friends to a get together at Wardhill Castle, to celebrate Keith’s 40th birthday. And Keith had no idea she was planning this surprise, for months. As a result, she organized various activities for the happy group. For example, from hiking a mountain in the early morning, to an outdoor lunch and a fancy dinner at the Castle. After that, they ended the first evening dancing with tradicional music from the Aberdeen area, played by the band Dark Island.

Fun story about this surprise birthday party in Scotland:

One of our favorite memories from this day was the outdoor lunch. If you ever went to Scotland you know that they have four seasons in just one day. That being said, if you look closely to the images, you can see how the weather shifted in just a few minutes.

Everybody found their seat and started to enjoy the wonderful meal Kate’s Bespoke Catering prepared for the happy group. The sun was out, it was a warm day, a Summer day. But then, in just a few minutes, the clouds closed upon us and it started to rain. And I don’t mean a light rain…but rain falling in large drops and with a lot of force.

To clarify, others would probably would ran unto the Castle. But not this group!! In short… they continued to enjoy their meal and having fun until they were all soaking wet. Talking about devoted friends, right?
