Couple portrait session Scotland, a breathtaking location

  /
2021-11-10

This couple portrait session in Scotland, is straight out of a fairytale. That is to say that their chosen location was Dunnottar Castle, a ruined medieval fortress located upon a rocky headland on the north-eastern coast of Scotland, about 2 miles (3 kilometres) south of Stonehaven.

“Dunnottar is much more than just a topographical curiosity. This rock and the magnificent buildings on it have borne witness to much of the rich and tragic tapestry of Scotland’s history.”

And Dunnottar Castle is considered as one of Scotland’s national treasures. So Krisja and Keith had no second guesses when it was time to choose the location for their shoot.

This place is quite impressive and this romantic and haunting ruin is a photographer’s paradise.

One of the most surprising things about the Scottish climate, and something we actually witnessed during this couple portrait session, is just how much it varies from one region to another. It’s often the case that you can drive for 20 minutes and find that the conditions are completely different. The unpredictable nature of the climate means it’s not uncommon to experience all four seasons in one day!

And as the old Scottish saying goes, ‘there’s no such thing as bad weather, only the wrong clothes!’
